Reports: Status Filter

This also applies to the form table located in each tool home.

Current State:

When the search is set to OPEN, forms in the VOID status are included. This is a common search or filter for building reports to review the forms that need attention because they are not closed or draft. However voided forms are not needed since they don't need attention.

Current State of the Status Filter Search:

  • Open: Void, Published, Open
  • Closed: Closed
  • Published: Published, Open, Closed, Void
  • Draft: Draft

Desired State:

Maybe this is the difference between Search and Filter, but I don't think what's above is intuitive. Only one of the 4 options can be selected at a time and all but Closed and Void result in a list with more than what was just selected (Choose Open and you get a list with Void, Published and Open instead of just Open). I know that Open and Closed are technically "published" but this is not obvious to the end user.

What if we allowed multiple to be selected, added Void to the list and let the user select all the status they wanted to see at once? Then only the forms that display that status who in the list (as apposed to Published shows 3 other status).

Current State of the Status Filter Search:

MULTIPLE CAN BE SELECTED

  • Open: Open
  • Closed: Closed
  • Published: Published
  • Draft: Draft
  • Void: Void

I'm aware that this concept could be applied to other columns in our form tables, but I think Status is most applicable and to keep this issue from turning into a project, we limit it to just that column.

    Fully Delete RFI's

    Currently Mercury doesn’t allow for full deletion of RFI’s - this tends to cram up the RFI section with any RFI’s that are “VOID”. I would suggest the ability to fully delete RFI’s, or a section that’s separate from RFI’s that holds the void/recycled RFI’s

      BACKGROUND: An RFI is only numbered after it is Published. If it is created but only saved (DRAFT), it can be fully deleted/removed. Publishing is also what triggers notifications. So if an RFI is removed after it has a number and notifications have been sent, it will leave a gap in numbering or have someone (design team) wonder why they got an email that it was assigned but no longer exists.

      DISCUSSION: This is not a technical limitation. So, please comment and vote if the ability to fully remove an RFI is more critical than the current logic described above.

        I understand and agree with Patricks logic - however, is there a way to make this more visually appealing? Can we keep VOIDED RFI’s in a separate section?

      Connor - That’s definitely possible, but would require a revision to the UX across all tools to create a location to store voided forms. I think we can still accomplish this request more quickly by providing an easy way to hide the voided forms.

      With the features now available to save views, you could set a filter to remove VOID from the status column. The catch is we don’t currently break down VOID as an independent Status, so the filters can’t target just void. Therefore, I’m going to merge this request with the one that adds granularity to our filters (votes and comments will be consolidated).
