Allow the tie between nodes to also link the dates entered like a start to finish relationship. Consider having a duration instead of a dates. Below is a user interview. Italics are thier answer and the questions are from me:
If you were to set a standard turnaround time in that screen you snapped below you would then go to create a new RFI or Submittal:
1. Would you want it (that number of days) to apply to every step in the workflow? So if you added two steps in series then it would be 4 weeks total?
If it's possible, it'd be great to be able to create a workflow template that allowed for review times based on working days. The ARC/ENG would have a 2-week/10-day lead time set (as an example) and then the PE/PM reviewer would have 1-3 days to review and close it out. Instead of selecting dates on the calendar, it would calculate the review times/dates based on the standard working day review time. Working days could be set in the Admin section.
2. Would you want it to queue off of the created date of the form? So, if you created it on 9/25 it would add two weeks to the first step and so on?
I would think it should be updated by the publishing date once the form is sent out but someone could adjust the timeline manually too. Best practice could be to apply the workflow template once it's ready to be published if an auto update at form publishing is not possible.
3. The linking (drawing the line) of steps is what triggers the relationship. So, if you two steps the first would be today + 2wks and the second would Step 1 + 2 weeks.
Correct, based on whatever the PE/PM designated as appropriate review time in the workflow.
