MERCURY UPDATE | April 2026

It’s Q2 already and NASA is going back to the moon! Looks like we made a good name choice since space flight coming back just like the fashion choices of my teenage kids. Lots more fixes, features and enhancements are happening every week. Everything below that wasn’t a fix was a feature request made by someone that is now a reality, so keep them coming!

FEATURED CHANGES

Featured changes are those that came highly requested, have a significant impact on functionality, or we thought they were more exciting than the others.

Multiple Photo’s in Succession

We’ve simplified taking multiple photos by removing 3–4 taps per session. Open the camera tool, choose an album, and keep snapping until you’re done. Check out the Feature Request Link for the background or the Doc Article for the how-to.

Checklist Upgrades: Pass Observations Optional

Some workflows require observations for passing items, others don’t, now you can choose.

If no observation is needed, just “Save without Response.”
We also added animations (mobile and desktop) to make it clear the inspection is still open while creating observations.

Additionally, checklist settings (QC, safety, equipment) are now more flexible at both the project and company level.

Safe Observations: Shorter

Observations are still required for “Safe,” but we’ve reduced the effort.

Unnecessary inputs like Assignees are removed, and “Company” is added so credit goes where it’s due.

Saving Views

You can now save filtered and sorted views from a tool’s home page.

Saved views can be:

  • Shared with the entire project (admin only), or

  • Kept personal

You can also set a default view if you have multiple saved. Check out the Doc Link for more info.

ENHANCEMENTS AND FIXES

Here are more changes made, grouped by where they can be found. Please reach out to pdesimone@shoestringvalley.com if you have any questions as to why and he will name names as to who requested them.

Documents

  • Drag-and-drop now supports multiple file uploads (previously only attachments did)

  • Folders and subfolders can be moved between Public and Private

  • File and folder details now display consistently for sorting

Directory

  • Custom permission roles now appear when adding users (previously only standard roles showed)

  • Removed “&” from company names. Blame Patrick—they shouldn’t have been there to begin with.

Mobile

  • PDF attachments (RFIs, Submittals, etc.) can now be viewed on mobile

  • Photo upload speed improved (we can’t fix bad Wi-Fi, though)

  • Keyboard no longer blocks search results

  • Photos can now be tapped to view full screen

  • Assignee permissions fixed for form creators

  • Tools with many templates no longer disappear off-screen (thanks Kaiser for stress testing our limits)

Inspections

  • QR codes can now be easily renamed or deleted

  • First version of Quality metrics is live (still a work in progress)

  • Planned checklist locations now search across all hierarchy levels

  • Fixed NaN error in checklist % complete

  • Fixed mobile issue allowing observations without checklist linkage

Admin

  • SSO now available for Ox Concrete and SDS domains

  • Template Projects now include Planned Checklists with full item sets (remove what you don’t need instead of building from scratch)

Assignees, RFIs, & Submittals

  • Backspace and Delete now work when removing nodes (turns out we had some Mac-only bias)

  • Fixed duplicate forms caused by rapid clicking on Publish (it’s a web app—no double-clicking needed)

  • Rejected RFIs/Submittals now return to the creator with options to revise or close

  • Distribution selection UI redesigned—clearer and harder to miss recipients

  • Fixed Due Date bug for revised forms

Daily Report

  • Additional filter added to the list of dailies for “date”.

  • A bug was found and fixed where the calendar navigation button would get hidden when navigating to a daily report from show table.

Photo’s

  • There is now an unlimited amount of folders that can be created and displayed in the Photo’s tool. Thank you again Kaiser.

General

  • Improved contrast in light mode

  • ToDos now support sort/filter from the home page

  • Better error messaging

  • Fixed PDF export overlap with many assignees

  • Fixed rare issue where forms published without numbers

  • Reports now support total rows (think manhours)

MERCURY USER INNOVATIONS

THIS IS WHY WE CREATED MERCURY! These are the tools that our own users have thought of and created on their own. Seriously, no software engineers were involved in creating the following:

  • On the Kaiser project, Andersen is requesting all AHJ inspections for our trades. That team is working on creating a tool for trades to submit those requests and then track the inspection thru to completion. Stay tuned for how it turns out!

  • One of our UW projects have created a COP log to track changes on the project.
